About the workshop

The Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) is a widely used, standardized assessment tool for establishing autism diagnoses. The comprehensive interview, which can be administered in person or via telehealth using videoconferencing, allows clinicians and researchers to collect valuable information about an individual’s behaviours and developmental history to evaluate possible symptoms of autism.

Goals of the workshop:

• Learn the fundamentals of ADI-R administration and scoring
• Practice ADI-R coding through observation of two ADI-R administrations and detailed coding discussions
• Develop practical skills in using and interpreting ADI-R algorithms and classifications
• Explore the clinical use of the ADI-R (e.g., report writing), its psychometric properties, and associated research

• Workshops are kept small to allow for discussion and questions
• Our team has extensive experience with a wide range of ages and populations, including working with linguistically and culturally diverse populations, and we bring this experience to all our workshops.
• We believe that the context in which diagnostic tools are used is important - we welcome discussion about attendees’ own clinical or research context so we can offer advice on best practices and helpful adaptations.
• All workshops are led by certified trainers.

• This online workshop is offered over 6 half-days. It is not equivalent to the ADI-R Advanced/Research Workshop, which only takes place in person.
• Participants must attend all sessions.

Accreditation

This workshop has been approved for accreditation by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ) for professionals practicing in Québec.

Accreditation ensures participants that the activities in which they take part in meet McGill University's high educational standards.

Workshop fee

Regular Fee: $1,250 CAD + taxes

Reduced Fee: $1,150 CAD + taxes - The reduced fee applies to students; clinicians in the public healthcare system or the public school system in Canada; all participants from low-income or middle-income countries

Workshop materials

• Participants must have access to an ADI-R manual, protocols and algorithm forms to take part in the training.
• Materials can be in English, French or any of the official ADI-R translations

About the trainer

Mandy Steiman, PhD, is a clinical psychologist specializing in the assessment of autism and associated diagnoses. She holds at position at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, which is affiliated with McGill University.

Her experience includes serving as a senior psychologist at tertiary care diagnostic clinics and as clinical site leader for multi-site and longitudinal research studies, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of integrated clinical-research protocols.

Dr. Steiman trains students and professionals in diagnostic assessment for research and clinical purposes and is a certified trainer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R). Her goal is to train professionals to provide high quality, evidence-based care while employing an empathic and collaborative approach with patients and their families.

About the workshop facilitator

Noémie Hébert-Lalonde, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist specializing in supporting children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She holds a doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Montreal. She is certified in the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions and has received specialized training in the use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2) in clinical and research settings.

Noémie is actively engaged in the Transforming Autism Care Consortium (TACC), and spearheads the Quebec 1,000 (Q1K) Families initiative. Through her work as a clinician-researcher at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), she aims to advance the dissemination of scientific knowledge in clinical contexts.
